Christine E. O'Connor, M.D.

Christine E. O'Connor, M.D., originally from New Orleans, received her medical degree from Louisiana State University’s Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She then relocated to Baltimore in 2002 where she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. O'Connor also completed fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy and Pelvic Reconstruction techniques.

Dr. O'Connor directs an innovative adolescent gynecology and well-woman care program at Mercy Medical Center, as well as, focusing on surgical gynecology. The program is dedicated to initiating adolescents and young women ages 12-26, into primary care, reproductive health care, health education and counseling. Often a difficult transition, the adolescent program provides a service which encourages and supports health and wellness as young women mature both physically and emotionally. The well-woman program also focuses on preventive medicine, routine examinations and recommended age-appropriate screenings. From adolescence through the childbearing years, peri-menopause, menopause, and beyond; timely screenings and routine visits can make it easier to identify and manage gynecologic issues and provide interventions in a timely manner.

Dr. O'Connor has research experience at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services. Dr. O'Connor was mentored by Fermin Barrueto, M.D., Chief of Endoscopy and Pelvic Reconstruction at Mercy, in the research preparation of her award-winning project.

Dr. O'Connor’s areas of medical interest include comprehensive well-woman care, minimally invasive surgery, traditional gynecologic surgery, and adolescent gynecology.
