Gynecology Center: Urogynecology
The Urogynecology Center, a division of The Gynecology Center at
Mercy specializes in the treatment of urinary incontinence in
women of all ages, as well as pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic
reconstruction, interstitial cystitis, recurrent urinary tract
infections, fecal incontinence and the special gynecologic needs
of senior and handicapped women.
Twenty-five percent of women age 30-60 experience urinary incontinence
and 50% of women over the age of 65 suffer with this condition.
Urinary incontinence is not being able to control when and where
you urinate. It is not a normal part of aging but it is very
common particularly among women after menopause. It is a condition
which can be treated, cured or at least improved.
Director Mark Ellerkmann, M.D., and Marcella L.
Roenneburg, M.D.,
specialize in the treatment of this disorder and other gynecologic issues.
