William Valente, M.D., FACPFIELD: Endocrinology POSITION/TITLE: Thyroid Specialist BACKGROUND: Board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Dr. Valente received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Maryland Hospital. He completed a research fellowship in thyroid disorders at the National Institutes of Health and joined the clinical faculty at the University of Maryland, ultimately receiving a Clinical Professor appointment in the Department of Medicine. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Valente previously served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. Agnes Healthcare; Chief of Endocrinology and Metabolism at both St. Joseph Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center; and as Director of the Nuclear Medicine Thyroid Unit at University of Maryland Hospital. MISCELLANEOUS: Dr. Valente has authored numerous publications and abstracts and has served as a reviewer for both the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Journal of Endocrinologic Investigation Thyroid. An experienced clinician, teacher, and researcher, Dr. Valente’s major research interest is in thyroid disorders. He has numerous honors and awards to his credit, and is a member of many professional organizations, including The Endocrine Society, American Thyroid Association, and the Baltimore City Medical Society. Dr. Valente is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and remains active in clinical research on thyroid disorders.
