John T. Campbell, M.D.FIELD: Orthopedic surgery, specializing in foot/ankle reconstruction POSITION/TITLE: Surgeon, The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center BACKGROUND: Dr. Campbell is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. Prior to joining Mercy, Dr. Campbell served as Chief of the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Division of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his B.A. with honors in chemistry from Dartmouth College and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Campbell completed his orthopaedic residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and pursued an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgical fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Campbell then served four years in the United States Air Force, two of which were spent as Chief of Orthopaedic Services at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. With numerous research publications and presentations to his credit, Dr. Campbell is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He edited a DVD compendium of surgical techniques for bunion correction produced by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has also taught at numerous national orthopaedic courses and received two teaching awards at Johns Hopkins. MISCELLANEOUS: Dr. Campbell has an interest in arthroscopy and sports medicine of the foot and ankle, and works with professional, collegiate, and high school athletes and trainers. He has extensive experience with complex trauma of the foot and ankle, and he has conducted research on the surgical treatment of severe fractures and fractures in the elderly. He also treats patients with severe deformities of the foot and ankle, whether due to arthritis, neurologic disorders or rheumatologic disease.
