Hand/Shoulder/Elbow Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon Vipul N. Nanavati, MD, BSME, FAAOS, Joins Mercy

Vipul N. Nanavati, M.D., BSME, FAAOS, has joined The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital at Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Thomas V. Whitten, Medical Director and Chief of Orthopedics at Mercy, has announced.

Dr. Nanavati is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in upper extremities, shoulder and elbow surgery, and wrist and hand surgery.

Dr. Nanavati joins Mercy from Eastern Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in South Windsor, CT, where he was a shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand specialist.

After receiving his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, NJ, Dr. Nanavati completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Nanavati completed fellowships in both Hand Surgery and Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, making him one of a few orthopedic surgeons to accomplish such training. He has also served as Assistant Professor of Shoulder, Elbow & Upper Extremity Surgery at State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.

Dr. Nanavati has numerous clinical presentations and publications to his credit as well as extensive research experience. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Fellow), the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Orthopaedic Research Society.
