Mercy's Prevention & Research Center Seeks Patients for "Being Well, Staying Healthy," Study Regarding Persistent Fatigue
Fatigue is a common and sometimes, long-term problem for women
who have been treated for breast cancer. The Prevention and Research
Center at Mercy is conducting a study to test whether a 10 week
program can help reduce the symptoms of fatigue. The program consists
of 10 weekly group sessions that will include:
- Help with managing stress by learning relaxation techniques
- Instruction in yoga and other forms of mild exercise
- Nutrition and diet counseling
- Tips on how to manage fatigue and the factors contributing
to it
This study is right for you if:
- You have had breast cancer diagnosed within the past
5 years
- It has been 6 months or more since you finished chemotherapy
or radiation therapy (you may still be on hormone therapy)
- Over the past four weeks you felt worn out or tired
at least some of the time
- Over the past four weeks you felt full of life and energy
only some of the time
As part of the study, participants will be asked to complete
questionnaires and attend 10 weekly sessions. Each session will
last about 90 minutes. Mercy staff will also contact you at 2
months and 6 months to ask questions about your symptoms.
For more information about the study please call Susan Appling,
CRNP at
410-951-7952.
