Road to Health

Mercy a Sponsor of National "Road to Health" Conference to be Held Sept. 22-23rd At the Baltimore Convention Center

Mercy Medical Center is a full sponsor of the national “Road to Health” 2-day multi-city health and fitness expo, symposium and seminars being held Sept. 22-23rd at the Baltimore Convention Center, One West Pratt Street in downtown Baltimore. Approximately 20,000 people are expected to attend.

Presented by Tavis Smiley, "Road to Health" presents interactive health, wellness and fitness pavilions on cooking and nutrition, fitness, beauty, and wellness combined with information-packed seminars, medical screenings and referrals, live symposium discussion, celebrity guests, a walk-a-thon, indoor and outdoor exercise activities, contests, literature, and more.

Mercy will offer free vascular screenings courtesy of The Vascular Center at Mercy. Paula Yutzy, certified diabetes educator and Director of Diabetes Education, The Diabetes Center at Mercy, will be among the keynote speakers. Mercy will also have a booth with health care information available to the public.

The conference, also held in Los Angeles and Oakland, California, among other locations, offers sessions on such health issues as asthma, heart disease, cancer, childhood obesity, etc. Attendees have the opportunity to receive free blood sugar/glucose tests, blood pressure, bone density, cholesterol, lung function, kidney disease and HIV testing.

Invited panelists include former U.S. President Bill Clinton, entertainer Patti LaBelle, and Ms. Jackie-Joyner Kersee of the Jackie-Joyner Kersee Foundation.
