Gynecologic oncologist Dr. Hyung S. Ryu

Hyung Suk Ryu, M.D., Joins The Gynecologic Oncology Center At Mercy

Dr. Ryu Skilled In Use of Da Vinci Robotic System for Surgical Treatment of Cancers of the Female Reproductive Tract

(Baltimore, MD) – Hyung Suk Ryu, M.D., has joined the medical staff of The Gynecologic Oncology Center at Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Neil B. Rosenshein, Director of The Gynecologic Oncology Collaborative, has announced. Dr. Ryu is fellowship trained in gynecologic oncology.

Dr. Ryu earned his medical degree in 2001 from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where he also completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Ryu completed his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Ryu is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a fellow-in-training of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.

Dr. Ryu has a number of medical abstracts, publications and papers to his credit. He will continue his research concerning evolving surgical techniques as well as effective options for expanded chemotherapy regimens.

Dr. Ryu is skilled in treating early stage ovarian cancer laparoscopically and robotically, utilizing the Da Vinci robot system now at Mercy Medical Center.

“There is a degree of mobility with the robot that is beyond what we can get with laparoscopy,” Dr. Ryu said. “The amount of fine precision is much improved.”
