Mercy Medical Center Recently Recognized Efforts Of Mercy Nurses During National Nurses Week In May
The work of America's more than 3 million registered nurses to save lives and maintain the health of millions of individuals was the focus of the annual National Nurses Week, celebrated in mid-May throughout the United States. National Nurses Week (NNW) also serves to celebrate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. During the week, Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore held a number of activities and programs for its nurses, raising funds for Mercy Beyond Borders, and honoring nurses for their service. Mercy Beyond Borders is a U.S. non-profit organization that assists displaced and impoverished women and children overseas. Inspired by the United Nation’s efforts to cut extreme poverty in half by 2015, and the efforts of the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Beyond Borders is committed to refugee assistance and advocacy.
