Mercy's Dr. David Scharff, Organizer/Competitor, Annual "Bike Jam" Cycling Festival In Patterson Park, Sunday, May 29th
BIKEJAM 2011, a full day of high caliber pro-am cycling, including games, bike safety, live music, and other family summer fun, will be held this Sunday, May 29th, with cycling races from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event, free and open to the public, will be held in Patterson Park in Baltimore City. The cycling festival features cycling vendors, shows, cycling and health, cycling advocacy, etc., throughout the day and around the race course. “Baltimore Bike Jam 2011” is the mid-Atlantic’s largest cycling festival now in its 13th year. Past BikeJam races have included former Olympic and Tour D’France participants.
Bike Jam promoter and participant Dr. David Scharff (board certified, internal medicine) of Mercy Medical Center has served as president of Lateral Stress Velo, a bicycle club and racing team from Baltimore. LSV includes mountain bikers and road bikers and are a member of both National Off Road Biking Association (NORBA) and the United States Cycling Federation (USCF).
