Dr. Albert Polito, Director, The Lung Center at Mercy

Pulmonary Medicine Specialist Dr. Albert Polito Honored As "2011 Humanitarian Award" Winner By Mildred Mindell Foundation

Dr. Albert Polito, Director, The Lung Center at Mercy Medical Center, has been selected as the recipient of The Mildred Mindell Foundation’s 2011 Humanitarian Award. He joins a prestigious group of physicians to have received such an award, including Mercy physicians Neil B. Friedman, M.D. and Neil B. Rosenshein, M.D.

On Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 6 p.m., the Mindell Foundation will host A Tasting at the Station to honor Dr. Polito and benefit Mercy. This casual and fun event will take place at Green Spring Station in Lutherville and offers an evening of food and refreshments provided by local restaurants, music and dancing, a live and silent auction and plenty of good company. All proceeds will support Dr. Polito’s work in providing advanced diagnostic methods and treatments for lung disorders. Dr. Polito earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 1989. After serving as Senior Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital, Dr. Polito trained as a Fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Polito has published widely and lectured extensively on both a national and international level. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Thoracic Society and currently serves as the Maryland Governor for the American College of Chest Physicians.
