Mercy Gynecologist Dr. Meghan Lynch Addresses "Pelvic Pain" On WBAL-TV11's "Woman's Doctor"

It's common for women to suffer from pelvic pain, but diagnosing that pain can be complicated.

Chante Green, 34, a mother of free, had experienced pelvic pain for more than a year.

"It was on my left side near the pelvic area. Literally, I could put my finger on it and point to where the pain was coming from," she said.

Green tried pills and surgery, but the pain was still there.

"I was still in pain, still on my left side. I couldn't sit, I couldn't walk, I couldn't stand for long periods. It was horrible," she said.

Green went for a second opinion with Mercy Medical Center gynecologist Dr. Meghan Lynch.

"She listened to me. She said, 'Chante, you're not crazy. There's something going on,'" Green said.

"You have the ovaries, tubes and uterus, the appendix is not far away, and the rest of the GI system -- the urinary system and the bladder -- is close by, so there's a lot that can cause pelvic pain," Dr. Lynch said.

An ultrasound showed nothing, but there was a clue.

"She had tenderness in specific areas, and endometriosis tends to grow in certain areas. That's what made me suspicious," Dr. Lynch said.

Green ended up being diagnosed with endometriosis and had another surgery to remove the offending tissue.

"That pain I could always point my finger to was gone," she said afterward. "To know my body was telling me the truth, and for a doctor to believe me and to actually solve the problem -- I'm her patient for life."
