Planting the Seeds of Knowledge: The MercyRN Spring Lecture Series at the Weinberg Center Will be Held April 24th and May 14th
The MercyRN Spring Lecture Series, "Planting the Seeds of Knowledge," begins on Tuesday, April 24th with ONCOLOGY. Topics of discussion include cervical cancer and vaccine therapy, breast cancer, isolated limb infusion, colon cancer and I131 Therapies. Speakers will be Dr. Neil B. Rosenshein, Director, The Weinberg Center for Women's Health and Medicine and The Gynecologic Oncology Center; Dr. Gauri C. Bedi, The Hoffberger Breast Center; Dr. David A Riseberg, Medical Oncology, The Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy; and Dr. John T. Salkeld, Nuclear Medicine; also, Darlene Lewis, RN, Tina Norris, RN, and Pat Novak of Nuclear Medicine.
The series continues on Monday, May 14th with ORTHOPEDICS. Paul Vitale joins Drs. Joseph J. Ciotola, Paul R. Lucas and Spiro B. Antoniades to discuss minimally invasive hip replacement, DVT (deep vein thrombosis), corticosteroid use, and clinical implications of the post-operative spinal patient.
The lecture series opens each day at 8 a.m. with registration and continental breakfast, followed by the lectures at 8:30 a.m., noon lunch and guest demonstration, lectures resuming at 1 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception and hospital tours at 3 p.m. The series is held in the Truman Semans Conference Room, 2nd floor, The Weinberg Center, 227 St. Paul Place.
CPR recertification is also available. Earn contact hours for each presentation. Free breakfast, lunch and parking for attendees. Course tuition is underwritten by Mercy.
In addition, a Nurses' Week Open House Brunch will be held on Friday, May 4th, 9-11 a.m. in the McAuley Rooms, Sister Mary Thomas Conference Center, main floor of the hospital at 301 St. Paul Street.
