Lynt B. Johnson, M.D., Named Senior Surgical Consultant For The Center For Liver And Biliary Diseases At Mercy

(Baltimore, MD) – Lynt B. Johnson, M.D., has been named Senior Surgical Consultant fort The Center for Liver and Biliary Diseases at Mercy, Paul J. Thuluvath, M.D., Medical Director of The Melissa L. Posner Institute for Digestive Health and Liver Disease at Mercy, has announced.

Dr. Thuluvath, in his role as the Center’s Director and as a Professor of Surgery (Transplantation) and Medicine at Gerogetown University School of Medicine, is pleased to have Dr. Johnson join one of the region’s leading programs for liver and biliary diseases.

Dr. Johnson, a nationally recognized leader in the field of transplantation, will work in conjunction with The Institute’s physicians, nurses, and transplant coordinator to optimize pre-operative evaluations and screenings of liver transplant recipients.

“The collaboration of The Center for Liver and Biliary Diseases at Mercy with one of the nation’s leading liver transplant centers provides our patients with access to multiple donor transplant options, as well as the experience and expertise of senior hepatologists and liver transplant surgeons,” Dr. Thuluvath said.

Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and his clinical fellowship in Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at the New England Deaconess Hospital.

Dr. Johnson currently serves as Chief of the Division of Transplant Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center and Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He has authored numerous publications, participated in editorial review boards, received many honors and wards, and has extensive teaching experience.

Dr. Paul J. Thuluvath received his medical degree from the University of Sheffield School of Medicine, England. He completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Cambridge, England. Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Thuluvath specializes in liver disease, liver transplantation, ERCP, liver cancer, and primary sclerosing cholangitis. He extensive research experience, has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and editorials, and is an international speaker.
