Mercy Hosts A Celebration Of Babe Ruth's Birthday With Special Fundraiser For NICU On Sunday, Feb. 6th
Mercy is partnering with the Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation this Sunday, Feb. 6th to commemorate the actual birth date of Babe Ruth. Ruth was born in Baltimore on February 6, 1895. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., people will be able to hold an actual bat that Babe used in 1927 when he set the single-season HR record. This item is never on public display and normally kept in the Museum’s private archives. On Sunday, people can hold this priceless piece of sports history and have their picture taken for a donation of just $10.
The Babe loved children, especially babies. So proceeds from the day will help support Mercy's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in their efforts to care for over 400 babies each year. Portions will also benefit the Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation. The event will be located on the Mezzanine Level of the new Mary Catherine Bunting Center lobby at 345 St. Paul Place. Parking is available in the Bunting Garage, located off of Pleasant Street.
