Mercy’s new state-of-the-art Mary Catherine Bunting Center |
Baltimore Magazine Names Mercy Medical Center One Of "The 25 Best Places To Work" In Baltimore
The February 2012 issue of Baltimore Magazine has named Mercy Medical Center among the 25 “Best Places to Work” in the Baltimore region. According to the magazine article, Mercy “does community mentoring to encourage young people into health-care careers and helps those on staff with professional development to grow their careers.”
The article listed the 138-year-old hospital’s “Best Benefits” as “continuing education related to licensing or certification (being) 100 percent paid; pre-tax, subsidized parking (with security); up to 50 percent reimbursement for adoption; home-buying help for moderate-income employees.”
Baltimore Magazine writer Christianna McCausland’s article goes on to praise Mercy for its “brand new building,” the Mary Catherine Bunting Center (www.mercybunting.com), the “organic produce from One Straw Farm,” the hospital’s 401K program with employer match, and the institution’s commitment to personal and professional development of its employees:
“The hospital fosters young talent with two programs: a six-week, paid summer internship for Baltimore high-school seniors and a partnership with six city high schools aimed at getting kids into the field of nursing,” the article noted.
In addition, attention was given to Mercy’s “fun” side, with “frequent potlucks, baby showers, wedding showers, holiday parties, community outreach events and Easter egg hunts. It’s family oriented and small enough that people know each other.”
