Eateries at Mercy
Baggot Street Café— serving Starbucks Coffee, sandwiches, salads, cold beverages, yogurts, desserts, soups and snacks. Located in the lobby of The Weinberg Center and open Monday through Friday 7 am – 3:30 pm. Closed on weekends.
Mercy Lobby Kiosk in the Main Lobby—serving gourmet coffee, sandwiches, fruit cups, cold beverages, yogurts, desserts and snacks. Open from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bistro—a full service cafeteria, open from 6:30 am to 8 pm and midnight to 2:00 am seven days a week. Located on the 6th floor of Mercy’s Tower Building.
Mercy is also neighbor to 5-star restaurants, quaint cafés, coffee shops and bistros offering a wide selection of dishes including local seafood specialties, international cuisine and traditional American favorites. Many of these restaurants can be found across the street from the hospital or within a 10 minute walk from the hospital.
Financial Counseling
Mercy offers patients financial assistance for those who are
uninsured and ineligible for federal medical assistance. Payment
plans
are
available and/or a patient can be put on a sliding scale which
would allow a percentage of assistance depending on their
eligibility
under current guidelines.

Gift Shop
Mercy's Gift Shop offers
a wide variety of gifts and necessities to enhance a patient's
stay. Open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5:30 pm. Saturday and
Sunday it is open between 12 noon and 4 pm. Closed on Sunday.

The following hotels are located on major routes to Mercy Medical Center and are within several blocks of the hospital. When making a reservation, be sure to inquire about special rates for Mercy patients.

Interpreter Services
Mercy offers, free of charge, interpreter services to patients
and their family members. Among them, Deaf Talk, a telephonic
and computer device which provides the patient with a view of
the interpreter through a computer screen.
Pastoral Care
Mercy’s Pastoral Care services are available to all patients. The staff of highly-qualified professional Chaplains provide counseling services to anyone experiencing difficulties in coping with personal or family issues such as illness, depression, stress, substance abuse, and loss including bereavement, divorce and job loss. Pastoral Care provides opportunities for individual and community prayer and is sensitive to all faith traditions.
Pharmacy
Outpatient pharmacy prescriptions can be filled at NeighborCare
Pharmacy, inside the lobby of the main hospital. It is open Monday
- Saturday. You can reach NeighborCare Pharmacy at Mercy by calling
410-332-9255 or you can have your prescription faxed to 410-625-6213.
Programs for Patients and the Community
Business Health Services—Occupational health
services for City employees. Police, fire and other City employees
are
attended to by Mercy's healthcare providers for work injuries
and pre-employment/physicals.
Catherine's Hearth—a support center for homeless families. Staff and volunteers work to assist and support participants in identifying goals and completing action steps to reach them. Participants utilize existing programs in the City, working in partnership with Catherine’s Hearth to meet education, job-training, housing search, and other needs. Programs at the center will focus on improving communication, parenting and leadership skills, and building self-esteem and self-expression through programs in the arts, nutrition education, health, exercise and more.
Family Violence Program—Mercy partners with the
State Department of Human Resources Victim Services to support
a program to identify the symptoms of domestic violence at an
early
stage
and offer
support
and
intervention. The program provides consultation services to
physicians and allied
health professionals on campus and in the community geared at
early detection of violence within families.
Healthcare for the Homeless—Mercy partners with
the City of Baltimore in establishing a primary care site dedicated
to providing healthcare to the homeless population. Allied health
professionals include social workers, supportive housing staff,
nurses, and pastoral care.
Mercy's Children Health Outreach Program (M-CHOP) —provides
outreach services and healthcare to homeless children and families
in Baltimore City through a community network of 30 separate organizations.
PRIME (EAP)—a community based employee assistance
program providing drug and alcohol counseling. Allied health professionals
include social workers, mental health counselors and addiction
counselors.
Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner's Program (SAFE) —program
in which nurses provide examinations for male and female sexual
assault victims as well as provide evidence collection for the
homicide, rape, sex offense and child abuse units of law enforcement
agencies.
Supportive Housing Program—Mercy sponsors a program
designed to help the homeless and underserved secure housing
and prevent eviction through a variety
of government and private funding sources.

Social Work
Links patients with community resources. Social workers provide
discharge planning and counseling for patients having difficulty
coping with illnesses and planning.
Support Groups/Patient Education
Arm in Arm—Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group
dedicated to promoting the physical and emotional well being of
women with breast cancer by providing friendship, support, and
understanding. Nurses and allied health professionals from The
Hoffberger Breast Center at Mercy support this effort.
Hadassah Breast Project—a community program for
women, providing education and training on breast self-examination
(BSE) and health promotional information on the prevention of
breast disease. A registered nurse from The Hoffberger Breast
Center at Mercy leads the program.
Helping Hands—supported by the Mildred Mindell
Cancer Foundation, providing support for those who are going through
or have survived cancer. The program is run by Mercy Volunteers
and allied health professionals and offers enhancement services
for Mercy patients with limited financial resources, including
wigs, turbans and cosmetics.
Mercy Counseling Group—offered on campus through
the Pastoral Care Department, offering individual counseling for
adults experiencing some type of emotional distress.
Reach to Recovery—a one-on-one support program
sponsored by Mercy and The American Cancer Society, pairing current
patients with volunteers who have survived breast cancer.
True Sisters—a philanthropic organization that
performs a variety of service projects. True Sisters make comfort
pillows for women who have just had breast surgery at Mercy Medical
Center.

TTY
Enables hearing/speech impaired persons to communicate by telephone
through the use of a typewriter-type device. The relay operator
communicates by teletype with the hearing/speech impaired person
and relays the information to the other caller verbally.
Visiting Hours
General visiting hours are between 11am and 8:30pm, however, hours
vary by floor so please check with the nursing staff or our front
desk staff at 410-332-9555. Generally children must be at least
12 years old to visit patients on the floors. Again, please check
with our staff before you plan your visit.
