Dr. Pamela Quinlan, Endocrinologist at The Center for Endocrinology at Mercy, diagnoses and treats the full array of endocrine disorders, including osteoporosis, diabetes care, thyroid problems like overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), and metabolism disorders.

Dr. Supneet K. Saluja, M.D., Endocrinologist at The Center for Endocrinology at Mercy, received her medical degree from The Government Medical College in India. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Saluja has presented locally and internationally on a variety of endocrine conditions, such as treatment of glycemic disorders and proper diabetes management. She is a member of numerous professional societies, including The Endocrine Society, The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The American Diabetes Association, The American College of Physicians, and The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

William Valente, M.D., FACP, of The Thyroid Center at Mercy, a division of The Center for Endocrinology at Mercy, received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology and Metabolism fellowship at the University of Maryland Hospital. He completed a research fellowship in thyroid disorders at the National Institutes of Health and joined the clinical faculty at the University of Maryland, ultimately receiving a Clinical Professor appointment in the Department of Medicine. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration at The Johns Hopkins University.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism, Dr. Valente has authored numerous publications and abstracts and has served as reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and Journal of Endocrinologic Investigation Thyroid. A recipient of numerous prestigious honors and awards, he is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Thyroid Association, and Baltimore City Medical Society, and a fellow in the American College of Physicians. He is president of Interthyr Research Foundation and remains active in clinical research on thyroid disorders.

Amber L. Taylor, M.D., Director of The Diabetes Center at Mercy, a division of The Center for Endocrinology at Mercy, offers expertise in diabetes management, diagnosis, and education.
Dr. Taylor completed her Endocrinology fellowship at the University of Arizona. Following undergraduate education at Seattle University in Washington, she received her medical degree from Flinders University of South Australia. Dr. Taylor trained in Internal Medicine at the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center / University of Washington program in Spokane, and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Taylor is dedicated to the treatment of patients with diabetes and to its prevention. Accepting direct patient presentations, and in consultation to primary care and other physicians, she will work with a team of endocrinologists, nurse educators and dieticians to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients with diabetes. Mercy’s Diabetes Center has a strong history of care that Dr. Taylor will further strengthen.

Susan Gustavsson, RN, BSN, CDE, is a Diabetes Nurse Educator who provides diabetes education in one-on-one and group sessions at The Diabetes Center at Mercy, a division of The Center for Endocrinology at Mercy. A Certified Diabetes Educator, Susan has vast experience in educating both inpatients and outpatients in diabetes management and has trained patients to use insulin pumps. A graduate of the University of Maryland at Baltimore with a degree in nursing, Susan is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and Maryland Association of Diabetes Educators.

Sheila Matlak, RN, CPT, CDE, is a Registered Nurse and Certified Pump Trainer with vast experience in educating people about diabetes and the use of insulin pumps. A graduate of the Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing, Sheila is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and Maryland Chapter of the AADE. A diabetes patient herself, Sheila is active in the volunteer sector for diabetes treatment and management.

Alison Massey, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, is a Registered Dietitian, a Certified Diabetes Educator, and a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist with a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from the University of Delaware. Alison focuses on self-care to help patients manage blood sugar and prevent or lessen the complications of diabetes. Alison has an extensive and diverse healthcare background including inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, public health and education, and kids health camp. She also facilitates and teaches diabetes classes and serves as media spokesperson on issues concerning diabetes and nutrition.

Kelly O’Connor, RD, LDN, CDE is a Registered Dietitian with more than 20 years experience in nutrition counseling. As Director of Diabetes Education, she coordinates all aspects of Mercy’s Diabetes Education program, as well overseeing a staff of nurse and dietitian diabetes educators. As a Certified Diabetes Educator, Kelly assists individuals with diabetes in all aspects of meal planning, carbohydrate counting and weight management in both group and individual settings. She is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
